Jennifer McMillan – Mother, Business Owner, Entrepreneur, Philanthropist
Jennifer was born in 1984 and raised in Anacortes, Washington. At a very young age she started to grow a passion for hair, makeup and fashion. At the age of 15 she started assisting at a salon in West Seattle and at the age of 18 she enrolled at Northwest Hair Academy. After graduating and getting her Learning Leaders License, she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to start her hair career. After building a strong clientele, she became a national color educator for John Paul Mitchell Systems. At the age of 24 she married Emmett McMillan, her best friend and husband to this day. At 26 she had her daughter Bailey, at 28 her son Madden (still 2 of her greatest achievements) and 5 weeks later she and her business partner and long time guest opened their first business, JM Hair Gallery a Paul Mitchell Focus Salon in Henderson, Nevada. After 3 years of what is still a very successful business, Jennifer and Tonya opened their second business BLACK, an online clothing boutique. Jennifer has been a hairstylist for 17 years and is in love with the fashion, hair, and makeup industry. She says that the best part of her job is that, "everyday we can change the way someone feels about themselves. We get to make someone feel beautiful in less then two hours!"
Her motto is, "Live every day with Peace, love and happiness remember the most valuable thing you can give someone is your time."
Tonya Hallett – Mother, Business Owner, Philanthropist, Entrepreneur
Willing to go the extra mile and explore new ways to continually move forward.
A native of Southern California, Tonya started her career in fashion management and sales. After moving to Nevada while raising her son Matthew Knapp as a single mother, Tonya began exploring new projects and started a career in Real Estate. Tonya's successful career took her to the next level of business. As a business owner of several commercial and retail properties, Tonya's heart was in helping others and making a difference in the lives of her community. Tonya, with her friend and hair stylist of 13 years Jennifer McMillan, opened JM Hair Gallery, a Paul Mitchell focus salon. With this opportunity, Tonya was inspired by the artistry of the fashion and beauty industry.
Tonya's empathy for people is a high priority and she is on the board with St. Jude's Women Auxiliary. This foundation helps feed and cloth abandoned and less fortunate children in the Las Vegas community. Tonya and her business partner Jennifer also formed a charity called Giving Hope where they go out to feed the homeless community every six weeks. These extensive philanthropic activities combined with her business savvy, support, vision and goals maker her an optimistic business woman.
Tonya loves to inspire and believes beauty is within us all. “Believe in yourself, have faith in everything you do, do it with love, and never give up.”
About Jennifer and Tonya
Jennifer and Tonya met thirteen years ago. Their journey began when Tonya was a walk-in guest, looking for a well established stylist. The two built a relationship through the years with love and respect for each other. They knew with their shared faith, family values and passion for business, this relationship would last a lifetime.
In 2013, Jennifer and Tonya opened JM Hair Gallery, a Paul Mitchell focus salon in Henderson, NV. Each day before they open for business they gather with their team and give gratitude. Tonya and Jennifer believe it is their team's success that makes them successful and that building a strong foundation for their team will make a happy home for all.
Over the last two years, Jennifer and Tonya have built relationships in their community by reaching out to help those in need. Giving Hope was inspired by Tonya and Jennifer in 2013. During this event held every six weeks at JM Hair Gallery, their team, as well as family and friends of their community, come together to make sandwiches for the homeless. This event feeds and clothes hundreds of men, women and children in need. Jennifer and Tonya believe that if you’re not giving, you're not living.
Three years into their successful business of team building, growth and helping others, they felt inspired to go to the next level within the culture of fashion and beauty and Black Boutique began.
We are proud to have partnered up with Team Paul Mitchell to make our world a better place. Selected items have been chosen for Team Paul Mitchell and Black Boutique to raise money for those in need.
Black Boutique will donate 15% of proceeds per purchase to our Giving Hope Charity. Giving Hope will help feed and clothe thousands of homeless in the Las Vegas community. As a team we can all Give Hope and make a difference.
